In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak, many events, businesses, movies, weddings, work are getting affected. It’s been more than a month now and the scare between people is only growing as the number of positive cases across the globe are increasing rapidly. Speaking of certain events, in March, we have reported that Cannes 2020 has been pushed to later. The original date of this festival was scheduled around mid-May but then it was scheduled to late June and early July. However, as per the latest development it is reported that it will be difficult to hold the Cannes film festival in its original form in 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

According to a report in India Today, it is said that the festival happening on the scheduled date will no longer an option owing to COVID cases. "It is clearly difficult to assume that the Festival de Cannes could be held this year in its original form," the organisers said in a statement. Following Macron's statement, the Cannes organisers said "We acknowledged that the postponement initially considered for the end of June to the beginning of July is no longer an option." They said that discussions had already started with industry participants over what form Cannes 2020 could take.

"Each and everyone knows that many uncertainties are still reigning over the international health situation," the organisers said. Earlier, they had shared an official announcement of postponing the festival as they wrote, "At this time of global health crisis, our thoughts go to the victims of the COVID-19 and we express our solidarity with all those who are fighting the disease."

The statement further read, "Today, we have made the following decision; the festival de Cannes cannot be held on the scheduled dates, from May 12 to 23. Several options are considered in order to preserve its running, the main one being a simple postponement, in Cannes, until the end of June-beginning of July 2020.”
